Great for Smaller Homes

Ductless HVAC systems are especially great for smaller homes and apartments. You may not need the power of a central unit to heat and cool a smaller space. Instead, a ductless unit can help you maximize energy efficiency by offering just the right amount of power for heating and cooling your smaller space.

You may only need one or two units. Since 100% of the air blows directly into your rooms, you may be able to eliminate the need for ductwork, which also saves space if you don’t have a lot of room to spare.

Great for Larger Homes

On the flip side, ductless mini splits are also great for larger homes. That may be too big for a standard central air conditioner. Ductless mini split units are especially beneficial for multi-story homes. It can be difficult to heat and cool top and bottom floors evenly. A ductless mini split offers you a customizable solution that allows you to select different temperatures for each room and area of your home.

Remodels or Add-Ons

If you have an existing central unit that is not powerful enough to cool your entire home after you add on a room or remodel, a ductless mini split may be your best option. Instead of overhauling your existing HVAC system, you can install one or two ductless units to meet your heating and cooling needs in the additional rooms. You may even find that you like a ductless mini splits so much that you wind up replacing your central unit with additional mini splits when the time comes.

Individual Zone Control

Some people do use a mini-split system as a whole-house heating and cooling solution. You can easily set each individual unit two the same temperature for consistent heating or cooling across your home. But many people use ductless mini splits to control the temperature in individual zones.

You may have one or more people in your home who prefer a different temperature than the rest of the family. With a ductless mini split, you can keep doors closed and maintain different temperatures in different areas of your home. This is a great way to keep everyone happy and comfortable.
